In 2017 Lynn and Katharine approached the National Lottery for funding, so that Smile could start providing popup cafes in
care homes and community venues.

In 2018 Smile was fortunate to be granted funding from the
National Lottery to build a small dementia cafe in
The Smile Centre at Middleton Hall.
 
The benefits of having a cafe at Middleton Hall has given the residents an increased opportunity to socialise with other people in a friendly, relaxed and social environment.
 
The Cafe is also very thankful to the National Lottery Community Fund for helping Smile fund Middleton Hall Dementia Cafe Kitchen. 
 
The Sunshine Kitchen allows the residents of Middleton Hall to enjoy home baking classes.

Smile Popup Cafes are very popular within care homes as it gives family and friends a place to socialise and have refreshments out with the residents bedroom.

Dementia & Community Café are typically hosted by volunteers and are usually supported by several organisations.

The Open Door Cafe in Uphall ~ with great honour Smile has the pleasure of supporting this amazing community service run by volunteers who welcome and encourage people into the local community.
